Uniforms and Equipment
Basic kit for members of Sperrgruppe Schrank

All new members should consult an older member before buying any item. We don't want you to buy an item that is wrong, of no use, or better purchased elsewhere.

Uniform

-Feldbluse (Field Tunic)- Models M40 through M43 are accepted. This means you will not want the bottle green collar or shoulder boards.
-Hosen (Trousers)- M37 Langenhosen, M43 Keilhosen, or, alternatively, Berghosen. You will want a belt or suspenders to keep your pants up.
-Hemd (Service shirt)- This is worn under the Feldbluse. It is a gray cotton pullover. It is recommended that more than one shirt be obtained.
-Fussbekleidung (Footwear)- German Schnurschuhe ankle-boots are accepted, along with Bergschuhe mountain boots. The mountain boots may be converted Swiss or Scandinavian surplus. Jack boots are not acceptable.
-Koppel und Schloss (Belt and Buckle)- Belt should be of black leather, rough side out. Buckle should be Heer pattern.
-Stahlhelm (Helmet)- Your helmet may be a reproduction or a refinished original shell in the M35, M40, or M42 patterns. It should not have any decals. The helmet is rarely used but important to have.
-Bergmütze (Hat)-This is the short brim 2 button hat used by the Geirgs. It should have an edelweiss emblem on the side and correct T-eagle. This is a vital piece of equipment as the helmet is rarely worn.
-Seitengewehr (Bayonet)- This is your sidearm, the bayonet. Ideally your bayonet will be original, but replicas can do with a little tweaking, as need dictates. It is worn to the rear of the left hip. Bayonet frogs must be of black leather.

Field Gear

-Patronentaschen (Ammunition pouches)- Kar 98k pouches must be of black, pebbled leather. Gewehr 43 pouches may be of the same black leather or of green webbing.
-Brotbeutel (Bread bag)- Should be of olive canvas, original or approved reproduction.
-Feldflasche (Canteen)- Should be original, with brown cover, or approved reproduction.
-Spaten und Tasche (Spade and carrier)- Should be original, or approved surplus. Can be of the straight or folding variety.
-Gasmaske (Gas mask)- Although new members are not required to have the gas mask right off, a proper container should be acquired. Ask before you buy!
-Kochgeschirr (Mess kit)- Original Heer or converted East German kits are acceptable.
-Y-Tragenriemen (Y-strap suspenders)- Authorized reproductions of black and brown leather only.
